Young Riders Club
Saturday afternoons
2pm – 4pm
| New for Shardeloes Farm Equestrian Centre this year is the Young Riders Club (YRC). |
The 2 hour session consists of 1 hours riding and 1 hour’s stable management. The riding element may be a lesson in the school, jumping, hacking, a lesson in how to lunge a pony and teaching each other on the lunge or ‘Merlin’ lessons. |
The stable management will include all the basics you need to know in order to catch your pony from the field, how to put on and take off his rugs, groom him and tack him up. Other subjects covered will be basic anatomy, feeding and tack care. |
YRC is an ideal club for children who are pony ‘mad’ and want to learn more than just how to ride. You must be able to walk and trot confidently to join the YRC. |

Pamper a Pony
Pamper a pony is aimed at the younger, less experienced rider who would like to gain a few stable management skills and confidence when dealing with the ponies on the ground. Also includes a lesson or a hack. These are morning sessions with the emphasis on FUN! |

Own a Pony day
Come and experience all the aspects of owning your own pony for the day. The day will start with mucking out!
An essential skill for anyone considering pony ownership. You will then turn out or catch in your pony, learn how
to put on a head collar and safety rules when entering a field with other horses and ponies. How to open and
close a gate safely and everything else associated with a day on the yard looking after your ‘own pony’.
The day will also include two riding sessions. Remember to bring some lunch!

Halloween fancy dress and activities
Come and dress your self and your pony up as a witch, a ghost or a magical cat!
Prizes for best dressed and scariest pony! Other activities include apple bobbing (equine style!)
and carve your own pumpkin, prize for best design.

Join the Pony Club, you do not need your own pony. Enjoy our rallies, which include lectures and riding, with a chance to gain Pony Club qualifications along the way. Not forgetting the end of summer camp and the chance to win the Super Pony Trophy!

British Horse Society Stage 1 & 2 Course
We are always running courses but our latest is a 6 week course covering the practical, theory and riding phases of the British Horse Societies Stage 1 and 2 examinations. Other courses offered are the horse owners certificate and newcomers to stable management courses The Pony Club is at the centre of the activities for the Children, culminating in the summer camp, with a Pony Club Show to round events at the end of August.
Everyone can enjoy the working pupil days as well as Show Jumping and Games afternoons. For the slightly more mature rider we also have Adult Pamper a Horse days! Where you get to know horses better, receive riding and stable management lectures as well as practical sessions. You will be surprised at how much you're riding and equine knowledge will be improved! In order to prepare everyone for his or her end of summer show, we are holding a series of show preparation days with separate tuition available for children and adults.
So book now - Come and join us for regular lessons and our special activities during the holidays.
Working Pupil and Pamper a Pony Days Pamper a Pony days are designed for the younger or more inexperienced child. Running from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. they include 2 hours of riding with mini lectures and practical sessions.The price for this is £45. The Working Pupil days run to a similar format but spread outfrom 9.30 to 4.30. This allows the slightly older child more time o work practically with the horses and therefore gain more experience. We are also holding our ever-popular Adult Pamper a Pony days.The same basic format as for the childrenbut the day is slightly more tailor-made. And of course instead of lunching at Shardeloes we invariably go to the pub! Please phone 01494 433333 for a full list of dates and prices and further activities, NOW! Corporate and Group packages. Don't forget the Rally Karts make an excellent addition to your afternoon. Shows We always end the summer on a show day. This is a great afternoon out to show off all those skills learnt throughout the year. Each show always includes a dressage test, clear round show jumping and games. Other classes available include showing, best turned out and fancy dress. As well as the main shows there are a Show Jumping afternoon and a games afternoon.
